Guatemala via El Salvador: A Journey of Faith and Ministry

 

Three weeks ago, I traveled to El Salvador, where I was warmly welcomed at the airport by my friend and interpreter, Josue. Over the next few days, we had the opportunity to connect with several local pastors, building relationships and preparing for the ministry work ahead.

From there, we traveled by car into Guatemala to host a conference focused on “Joining God in His Work,” with a strong emphasis on evangelism. Between Josue’s careful driving, the constant flow of motorcycles weaving through traffic, and getting lost in numerous small towns where the gangs posed a threat, it was a journey that kept us both alert and prayerful.

The conference was well attended, with participants eager to learn and grow. During our sessions, I shared teachings on how Jesus and His disciples demonstrated God’s power, reminding everyone that these same works are still available to all who follow Him today.

At the conclusion of the conference, we entered a time of ministry, inviting the Holy Spirit to move among us. It was a meaningful and impactful time, as many experienced encouragement and renewal.

One particularly moving moment was when a fifty-year-old woman approached me for prayer, visibly moved by the Spirit as she began to cry. I gently asked if she was experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts, to which she replied yes. I prayed for her and then connected her with a local believer, ensuring she promised to reach out to her new friend in Christ instead of harming herself.
