Coming in August 2026 | Third Ministry Trip Since the War Began

Whenever I go to Ukraine, I never know exactly how God will use me. Every trip is different, and every trip leaves a lasting mark on my heart.
On one visit, I spent time in a military hospital praying with soldiers who had lost arms and legs defending their country.
I remember speaking with one young soldier who had lost a leg. Wanting to honor him, I thanked him for his sacrifice when I should have said service.
He quickly corrected me.
He responded, “Sacrifice? This is not sacrifice. This is for my home, my family, and my country.”
In that moment, I understood something profound. Ukraine was not going to lose this war. We continued talking about Jesus, and when I asked if I could pray for him, he gladly said yes. It was a holy and unforgettable moment.
God has also opened doors for me to teach in many different settings in Ukraine. I have taught in the mountains at a retreat center where it was relatively safe from drones and missiles—although while talking with Bonnie on the phone, I suddenly heard gunfire in the background! Thankfully, it was only the army conducting training exercises.
I have also taught in Kyiv and four other cities where the threat of drone and missile attacks is a daily reality. Ministry continues even under the constant shadow of war.
Another privilege has been spending time with many people who have been displaced from their homes. Listening to their stories, praying with them, and reminding them that they are not forgotten has been deeply meaningful.
A significant part of every trip has been investing in church leaders. I have taught and preached in small church plants as well as large churches, and I have spent valuable time with pastors and their families, encouraging them as they faithfully serve under incredibly difficult circumstances.
The cost of ministry during war is heartbreaking. Nearly every pastor I have met has lost someone from their congregation. The burden they carry is immense.
One of the greatest privileges God has given me is simply to encourage these faithful shepherds. Time and again, I have watched weary pastors and leaders leave our time together strengthened, refreshed, and renewed to continue the work God has called them to do.
As Josue and I prepare for this third trip since the war began, we would be grateful for your prayers. Please pray for our safety, for open doors to share the love and hope of Christ, and that God would strengthen the churches, pastors, soldiers, and families we will have the privilege of serving.
